2024 Central Texas Candidate Forum - Engaging With Our Asian Community

Engage directly with local and regional candidates!

The Asian American-Pacific Islander community now represents nearly 7.5% of the voters in the Central Texas region. While we come from various countries and diverse cultures across the enormous Asia-Pacific region and share common values as American citizens, it's important to recognize that we do not share a uniform political view or cultural preference. Therefore, it is essential for every voter to become informed about the candidates and vote according to their conscience.

On September 21, 2024, a group of Asian-oriented organizations will co-host a candidate forum, a tradition upheld by numerous Asian American organizations every election cycle. This event is dedicated to fostering civic engagement and participation, particularly in the local races where community members live and raise their families.

This candidate forum is a non-partisan event.

The forum will feature candidates for:

• Austin Mayor
• Austin City Council
• Texas House of Representatives
• Travis County seats
• Williamson County seats
• Judge seats in both Travis and Williamson Counties
• Board of Trustees seats for both Austin Community College and Austin Independent School District

Objectives of this forum are:

• To acquaint our communities with the candidates, their policy platforms, and the potential impact on our communities.
• To inform the candidates about the concerns and priorities of our community and beyond.
