Traditional Craft to Jewelry Brand: Building a Business Through Origami

Join us for our September Women's Club meeting as we dive into the entrepreneurship journey of Mimi Sanada in creating Mimi's Origamis, an origami jewelry brand! 

She will lead with a beginner-friendly origami workshop, then share how she transformed a family tradition into a jewelry business. From retail and consignment to wholesale, Mimi will share insights into different ways to sell handmade products.

About the Presenter

Mimi Sanada is the owner and maker of Mimi’s Origamis, a jewelry company that specializes in transforming traditional Japanese paper into wearable origami pieces that are lightweight, elegant, and unique. She is Japanese-American and grew up in NYC, where origami helped her stay connected to her Japanese roots and provided comfort during significant life transitions. 

Each Mimi's Origamis piece is hand-folded from traditional Japanese washi paper, painted with a protective glaze, and paired with hypoallergenic 14K gold-filled metals. Her origami jewelry is available in local Austin gift shops, as well as museum gift shops and cultural institutions across the US. Please follow her journey on Instagram @mimisorigamis

About the GAACC Women’s Club

The GAACC Women's Club is the Chamber's bi-monthly member meetup where women-identified leaders in the community come together to share a meal at one of our member restaurants while enjoying a leadership presentation or talk. The meetups usually last an hour and a half, with the first 30 minutes dedicated to networking and the next hour for the presentation and discussion. The GAACC Women's Club is led by our 2026 GAACC Women's Club Captain, Omaira Hanif, Founder of Lapis Integrative Health.
