The Austin-Oita Sister City Committee (AOSCC) hosts the event to celebrate Austin's Japanese Sister City, Oita. This family-friendly festival will include Japanese food and drink, kids' activities, cultural education and more. Attendees will experience JPOP, Japanese drumming, Rakugo Japanese comedy, Japanese shodo dance calligraphy, modern-rock shamisen Japanese guitar, dancing, sumo, martial arts, kendo, jyuku, kyudo, tea ceremony, kimono dressing, doing business in Japan and making sushi seminars, a talk on Japanese gardening, and an artisan and festival marketplace. The featured performers are from our sister city of Oita, Japan. AOSCC’s mission is to promote and heighten public interest in and appreciation of the culture, people, languages, businesses, and products between the City of Austin and Oita, Japan. Oita, one of Austin’s 13 Sister Cities, has been a Sister City to Austin since 1990. A Ticket Bundle discount for Adult GA (ages 13+) tickets is available online. Simply choose at least 4 tickets and receive $5 off for every 4 purchased. Discounted Child GA (ages 3-13) tickets are available for $15 online. Children younger than 3 admitted free. Early bird pricing ends Aug. 1.
