Description

Dreaming to Doing: How to Get It Done with Heart

Join us for an interactive November Women's Club meeting as we dive into the creative journey of Joi Conti and explore transforming our own voices and ideas into actually doing.

We were all kids once, dreaming up anything just because it felt good, back before cellphones and adulthood got in the way. This interactive session is part talk, part hands-on, part networking, built for entrepreneurs. I'll share how one idea became a magazine, how that magazine pulled a community out of the woodwork, and how that community became a movement.

So join me as we move from the voice that says "Oh, I'm just an idea person" to actually doing. We'll consider the difference between chasing trends and trusting your own originality, talk about where AI fits (and doesn't) when it comes to creative work, and leave with a concrete roadmap.

Join us! Registration fees are waived for paid GAACC members and cost is just $15 for non-members.

About the Presenter

Joi Conti is a Filipino-American editorial and advertising photographer based in Austin, Texas, who shoots brand campaigns like fairytales. Working with founders, creative entrepreneurs, and artists, she creates images that feel like a breath of fresh air from the generic ones out there, capturing heart, story, and fire in every frame. Her work has been featured in British Vogue and on the covers of Austin Woman Magazine, shaped by a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and time studying under top editorial and fashion photographers in New York City.

Joi has a habit of turning ideas into reality. She's the creator and photographer of TAYO NA, a photography-forward magazine that reads like an art book, celebrating Filipino artists and makers in Austin. What started as a single idea has grown into a movement, supported by the 2022 Project Rebuild Small Business Grant, the 2023 NEXUS grant, and the City of Austin's 2026 Elevate Grant. Her work has also shown in Perlas ng Austin, Camp East, Austin Studio Tours, and BUMUO: Rebuilding the Filipino Body.

She serves on the advisory boards of Asian Season ATX and the Central Texas Fashion Coalition, sits on the committee for the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce's Women's Club, and stays active in the Austin arts community.

Joi believes everyone has a story worth telling with intention. If she can dream it, she can build it, and she loves helping others do the same.
